Metal Clay Basics
Metal Clay Basics teaches the skills to become successful at working with metal clay. Whether you are new to metal clay or want to brush up on your clay handling skills, this class will provide you with a strong foundation. This class or equivalent experience is a prerequisite to taking additional classes, open workshop, and workshops.
Learn about metal clay and how to:
- Roll out clay
- Cut out shapes
- Texture clay
- Dry clay
- Refine dried clay
- Torch fire (small butane kitchen torch)
- Kiln fire
- Burnish metal
- Add a patina
Class fee of $100 includes instruction, use of tools, textures and firing.
Kit fee: Includes clay, use of shared materials, disposables, handouts and all findings.
Class size: 2 to 6 students. Can also be scheduled as a private class.
Class length: The class can be offered as a full-day class (10-5 with a short lunch break) or split into two 3-hour sessions.
